Drug Rehab And Drug Detox In An Idyllic Cleveland Suburb - Where Are These Heroin Addicts Coming Fro
By Gloria MacTaggart

A recent news story about Westlake High School - in Westlake, Ohio, about 20 minutes from downtown Cleveland - covered the recent bust of what police are calling a ‘heroin ring’ at the school. Although no sales were apparently done at the school, school officials notified the police when an 18-year-old student was found high on heroin in class. She said she got the heroin from two 17-year-old students. All three, and one of their mothers, has now been busted. With any luck, the kids will get a chance at drug and drug rehab instead of going to jail.

Although the odds of using heroin in high school may seem low, it is already a huge problem in some areas of the country: Parents in and around Cleveland should be aware that it could become even more of a local problem than it already is. If you want to be looking for a college for your kids in a few years instead of a drug or drug rehab program, you need to be aware of this trend and don’t, for a minute, think your child will be the exception - every parent of every kid who’s in drug rehab thought the same thing.

What is causing this problem? One major factor is the availability of prescription drugs - especially opiate painkillers like OxyContin, Vicodin and Percocet.

These drugs - likely to be found in the medicine cabinets of just about any parent or kid who has had an injury, an illness that involved pain, or surgery - create physical dependency within days or weeks of starting to take them, and they are also highly addictive. OxyContin addiction, for example, is so prevalent that many doctors have started prescribing methadone for pain instead. Unfortunately, they’ve jumped from the frying pan into the fire - methadone is just as bad as OxyContin and, in some respects, even worse. Even in medical drug and drug rehab, methadone is hard to kick.

Once the dependency or addiction takes hold, it’s can be very difficult to get off these drugs without medical drug for dependency followed by drug rehab if the person is addicted. The withdrawal can be extremely painful, as is withdrawal from heroin, and many people opt to take another pill once the going gets rough. There aren’t any statistics available as of yet on how many people succeed when trying to quit OxyContin on their own, but only 5% manage to quit heroin without a drug or drug rehab so it’s not out of

line to expect the same with OxyContin addiction or dependency, or with any opiate painkiller.

So, what happens when you need more pills, can’t stop taking them, but the medicine cabinet is empty? You can go to a drug and drug rehab program to get off them or you can find more drugs - go to doctors and fake symptoms so they’ll give you more, ask friends to steal them from their parents’ medicine cabinets, find someplace on the Internet that will sell them to you, or … you can turn to heroin. It’s cheaper than the pills, and it’s much easier to get - as the students in Westlake High School are now finding out.

Once thought of as a drug only used by the worst of addicts, heroin is now very common. And a big part of the problem is the prescription drug addiction and dependency epidemic - especially OxyContin and other prescription painkillers - that is sweeping the nation. Coincident with the prescription drug problem is record-high production of the opium poppy in Afghanistan - the excessive supply is resulting in lower prices and the opening of new channels and markets in which to sell the final product.

So, three students in a high school in an idyllic Cleveland suburb are now on heroin. And, chances are, there are more. And, chances are, there are going to be many kids in a Cleveland drug and drug rehab in the near future.

Parents, be on guard. If you live in Westlake or Cleveland, another Cleveland suburb or, in fact, just about any city, town or village in the U.S. - stay alert. Lock up your prescription drugs, monitor the use of them diligently when they have to be taken by your husband, wife, kids or other family members, and get them into Cleveland drug rehab and drug at the first sign of a problem. Prescription drug addiction and dependency is bad enough - it’s killing people, read the news - and if they’ve already moved onto heroin, do the same. Don’t let your lives be ruined by drugs. Find a drug rehab program before it’s too late.
